The Shining Gundam is probably my overall favorite Gundam design, but there's not a lot in the way of modern releases for it in 1/100 scale. Despite its age, this MG from 2002 holds up very well in many aspects, especially in the amount of poses it can do without using a stand. There are some issues with it, however. First, the parts that are gold on the box-art (i.e. the parts that are exposed in Super Mode) come in yellow, so you'll definitely want to use paint to correct them. The remaining yellow parts also kind of clash with the rest of the kit, especially since the white in this kit is a little cooler compared to other kits. There are screws in this kit, yes, but they are fairly easy to get in. However, when posing the arms, I feel like the screws make things too tight, and I'm afraid I'm going to end up breaking the kit on accident if I mess with them too much. Finally, for minor nitpicking, I the proportions on the chest look a little off, and it's kind of annoying that you have to swap out the face armor for the Super Mode transformation. While I'm sure an eventual 2.0 would solve most of these issues, I still recommend getting this kit, as the work to get those parts gold really made this kit feel like my own.
I had put this on backorder back in November, and just received this last week, and it was so worth it, the kit came basically untouched. This kit is awesome, especially when considering the age of the kit, it holds up well, however I will say You wont get the craziest poses, but you can crank out some pretty awesome ones for sure, the rubber hands and foot soles are a big plus,as the can hold the kit down and in the pose you want along with the screws in the main appendage joints. do keep in mind this kit uses polycaps. Overall l, any G Gundam fan will love this for sure.
