- backing sheet
- photo etch parts
This saw cuts incredibly and it cuts a lot faster than I was expecting. They’re even made in a way that prevents them from sliding out when you saw back. I’m in love with these tools and would 100% recommend them to a builder!
PROS: Mostly very straightforward to assemble. Once the parts are sandwiched together the blades are surprisingly sturdy, and they fit in a standard X-acto handle. The blades are thin and the teeth aren't set out at an angle, making for very clean and VERY narrow cuts: maybe 0.2 mm wide, tops. These blades seem great for modifying small kit parts (hands, joints, etc.) without tearing up the area around the cut. And with two of each blade type (straight, angled, and curved), the value per blade is pretty darn good. CONS: Basically the same difficulties involved with small photo etch parts, but writ large. The pieces are stuck on the backing sheet pretty firmly, and the thin steel can warp if you bend the parts while peeling them off. A little rubbing alcohol helps soften the glue holding them down. Getting a clean, straight fold down the length of the reinforcing parts was also a little tricky, but I got it done with a ruler and some patience.
